July 13: Zoning Commission Considers Removing 3 Properties from Historic District

At its Monday, July 13 meeting, the Greensboro Zoning Commission will consider a request to remove 1107, 1109 & 1111 West Market Street from the College Hill Historic Overlay District (the underlying Office zoning will remain).

The College Hill Neighborhood Association urges residents to attend the meeting to speak in opposition to this request.

Residents who are unable to attend the meeting in person are encouraged to email Zoning Commission members regarding this application. This can be done via an online form found at http://www.greensboro-nc.gov/index.aspx?page=1629. (The link to the email form is in the blue box in the middle of the page.)

The Zoning Commission meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chamber of the Melvin Municipal Office Building. Click here for the agenda for the July 13 meeting.

Past experience has shown that emails and appearing at the meetings has a strong influence! Take this opportunity to have your voice heard.

UPDATE: The owners asked in both July and August that the case be continued. In early September the owners withdrew the request and told the neighborhood that they were interested in working with the neighborhood association, the city and Preservation Greensboro to work out how to sell the properties.
