On Jan. 21, 2015, the Greensboro Planning Board unanimously approved the Revised Draft College Hill Neighborhood Plan (CHNP). The final approval step for the plan will take place at the upcoming Greensboro City Council meeting on Tuesday, March 17. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and is held in the Council Chamber of the Melvin Municipal Office Building, 300 W. Washington St., Greensboro.
The College Hill Neighborhood Association strongly supports this plan. The plan DOES NOT change any zoning. The plan has been extensively revised in response to virtually every comment and concern that has been raised in previous public meetings. These changes in emphasis have been made very carefully to ensure College Hill can still promote a high quality built environment, reinvigorate its historic character, reinforce its walkable urban form, and improve neighborhood cohesion and overall quality of life. The end result is a much stronger plan that better reflects the full range of perspectives present in College Hill.
Attend the Meeting — All College Hill residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to express their support of the plan. A repeat of the strong showing of support for the plan that was demonstrated at the Planning Board meeting will be persuasive to the members of the City Council.
Individuals who wish to briefly address the Council should sign up to speak when they arrive at the Council Chambers prior to the meeting. The meeting agenda will be posted online prior to the meeting.
Email the Council — Regardless of whether you can attend the meeting to speak in person, we also encourage all residents to contact the members of the Greensboro City Council via email to express support for the plan. You can send one message to all councilpersons by using the online form available at: http://www.greensboro-nc.gov/index.aspx?page=93. We recommend that you send the email sometime between March 10 to 15.
A notice about this public hearing has been mailed to College Hill residents and to owners of property located in or within 600 feet of College Hill.
